A CORPUS-BASED TEACHING MATERIAL

  Hi. my pity reader:)

After a long time, I am here again and happy to see you! This time, we are designing a teaching activity that is based on the corpus. While studying this assignment, I worked with my partner, SimgeA corpus is a group of texts that are gathered together. Despite being brief, the definition covers a wide range of tasks.

                                                                     taken from here.

First of all, the activity we have designed is structure-based. The ultimate aim of the activity is to make learners able to understand and learn the differences between the structures "will" and "be going to." The target audience is preparation students at intermediate level. After deciding on the topic and target audience thanks to the book that our teacher shared with us, my pair and I opened a co-working page in Canva. Then,we started to design our activity. As we prepared the activity, we focused on the students' in-depth use of learning technology, including corpus work.

After studying this material:

My students will be able to use the correct structure in the correct context.

My students will be able to distinguish the differences between "will" and "be going to."

My students will be able to learn the different usages of these two grammar structures.

While preparing this material, as a teacher candidate, I have learned that teachers should not only pay attention to which material to use but also to students' access to technology. There are some constraints, such as technology access, classroom context, level of students, background information, and so on. These obstacles play a crucial role in students' learning. That is why tachers should take these obstacles into consideration and design the activity accordingly.
