RESTARTING

   Hi my pity reader :)

     I hope all you are well my precious readers 😊. I really can't believe how time passed so fast. I just remember the first time that I create this blog and the difficuties I have experienced, which are now just seems as entertainment and basic aside from being hard.                     

     The tools and informations I have learned from educational technology lesson are definitelly something I will remember as long as I survive. I will again definitelly use the activities I learned from my precious and  honorableness teacher and I hope I will be like her in tems of point of view. All the tasks that we have done were related to 21st century learning. As a prospective teacher, I am in the opinion of use all the modern tools related to both learning and teaching of English such as podcasting, filmreview, movie poster and so on. ( These are the ones that I liked more.) Thanks to this course, I became more aware of myself, socialised with my friends and learned lots of thing not only collabortively but also individually.

     I will continue to use my blog page both for educational aim and for normal life experiences. As a teacher candidate, I will write about my teaching experience in the future and make my teacher inform about the awareness that she raised on me by teaching all these tasks, information, and point of view.

CANVA: CREATING A MOVIE POSTER

  Hi my pity reader :)

      Today , I am going to talk about the last assignment of the term. It was creating a moive poster of my favourite book. Canva and Poster My Wall are the apps that students can choose from to be able to crate the poster of the movie. I used canva while creating the poster. The most obvious  difference between this assignment and the others is that movie poster creating was an activity which is done individually while the others was focusing on collaborative working.

     I choose my favourite book named Serenade whose writer is Zülfü Livaneli. It is the most incredible and magnificent book that I have ever read. Thanks to my canva exprience, it became an immortal example of a movie poster(!). I was the producer of the film and the writer  was the director. Use of canva is so simple and entertaining. that is why, I almost had no difficulties while doing the assignment as a student who is using it for the first time. 

                                                         

 

     I highly recommend to the teachers and students to use canva as a tool in teaching and learning, which is both suitable to different learning styles and effective, longlasting learning.

DIJITAL STORYTELLING

  Hi my pitty reader:)

    Today I am going to tell about my dijital story creating assignment. To be honest, it was the most hard one that I have ever experienced but it was also so well-worthing. So, what is dijital storytelling and how can it be used in 21st century learning in English classes? DS combines oral tradition of storytelling with visual and sound capabilities of dijital media to share the information about target topic. Skills like creativity, critikal thinking, and speaking develop thanks to DS.

    Let's talk about our assignment, we choose to create a  PSA (Public Service Announcement). Tuğba, Esma was my group friends, we create our video together. We chose smoking as a topic because of  being a widespread issue all around the world. First, we wrote our script that we record right after for using PSA. Second we gathered images and gifts related to the topic and we chose a music (The soundtrack of The Instellar). Finially, we brought them together thanks to an app called InShot and it is ready!

   It was both exciting and difficult. I really enjoyed it so much, I and my friends have a good time together again thanks to this assignment. That is why, it is certainly an upcoming, modern tool that should be used in foreign language classes.

PODCAST

   Hi my pity reader :)

     Today, we are going to talk about podcats. I'm sure most of you know what is podcast because it is a famous and known tool of the today's world. Especially, it is used in education, entertainment, and politics.

     Podcasts are dijital media files which can be about any topic and include videos and voices. Podcast are divided into two. The first one is authentic podcast and the second one is ESL-EFL podcast. Both of them are usefull and effective in 20th century learning. Teachers can benefit from podcast to make lessons more enjoyable and experience a more effective learning environment. Students also can both benefit from podcasts for learning and can create their own podcasts easily. Voki and Vocaroo are some podcast tools.

     This week, we was responsible for creating a podcast. I and my dear friend Hilal decided to create a song inspired by Britney Spears's song named Scream and Shout. Our cartoon character were Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. We decided to write a song about these two characters and according to their roles in the cartoon. We used the music of the Scream and Shout. It was really fun and benefical. Our collaboration, writing, listening, and pronouncation skills have been developed thanks to podcast. We used Vocaroo while writing an releasing(!) our song.

     Podcasts are useful and benefical tools in learning of target languages in foreign language classes. As a teacher candidate and student, I highly recommend podcatst to be used in education.

A WEB-BASED PROJECT: PADLET

   Today, we are going to talk about websites. I'm sure that you are familiar with some website pages but our focus is on the ones which are used for educational purposes. These websites should be enough and useful in terms of accuracy, currency, content, and function.

     This week we were tasked with creating a padlet wall, an website example. It was the funniest and the easiest assignment that I have experienced. First, we divided into groups consist of four members, my teammates were Esma, Elif, and Rezan. Our topic was poverty as a global issue. We create a wall on padlet to write our thoughts about poverty on it collaboratively. We created a KWL chart, What we know, What we want to know, and What we learned. In first chart, we wrote the things we already know about poverty, then each member wrote three question that they want to know, and in the last chart we wrote the answes of the questions using images, videos.

FILM REVIEW

   The term wiki is derived from Hawaiian phrase, wiki wiki, which means quick. A wiki is a tool enabling online-group collaboration and asynchronous communication. It is a website whose users can add, modify, and delete it's content via a web browser. Collaborative learning, connectivism, creativity and innovation, information literacy are the most important notions which are aimed to be used by the learner. Wikitravel, wikihow, wikibooks, wiktionary, fandom, and gamepedia are some kind of wikis.

   Creating a film review on wikipedia was our assignment of this week. Every student has a peer, mine is Tuğba Yeşilmen. We choose a very interesting and unrealistic film which is The Invention of Lying . First, we watched it individually and took notes about it's plot, music, climax etc. Then we come together and wrote our review according to rules that we should obey, the rules giving the basic structure of review of the film like plot, cast, production, reception. Readers and writers can make commends on other's review. Thanks to this access, both readers and writers are involved and this enhances the participation of students, success of learnering and acquisition of writing ability. Even if you and your peer are not in the same place, you have the access of making changing and editing.As a collaborarive writing tool, wikis should certainly be used by students in learning. I really enjoyed so much while doing this assignment. You should certainly read the review we made about 'The Invention of Lying' on wikipedia.

21st CENTURY LEARNING

    21st century is the age of technology and creativity. Thanks to technology, there has been lots of development and advancement in the field of education. Creativity, time management, and collaboration are some important terms which are the effects of the technology. In today's world, learner should pay attention to these terms so as to learn and comprehend the target topic better. Besides of these terms; digital literacy, which means having the skills reader needs to learn in a society where communication and access to information is considerably increasing through digital technology such as internet platforms, social medias, and mobile devices, is another skill that you need to use in learning.

   Additively, the students born to this century or keep up with the technological developments are called as digital natives, while the ones who meet to technology later and cannot get used to it are called digital immigrants. These two terms underline the today's education system. That is why both teachers and students should have the ability to use the technologıcal tools in education. Courses and their contents should also be adapted to the 21st century learning in terms of learning skills and teaching techniques.
